You can either avail a shared bus tour to Barantang Island or avail a personal Vehicle. Depending upon your budget and convenience you can decide which mode of transport to choose while availing Baratang island tour. Please note that for Shared Bus tour you will have to report around 3 AM in the morning at designated areas in Port Blair. Usually the pickup point for the bus is at Goalghar, Phoenix Bay, Phoenix Bay Jetty, Gandhi Status, Aberdeen Bazaar Clock Tower, Dairy Farm, Bhatu Basti and Sippighat.
Guests will be picked-up from their hotel /accommodation (dependant on the distance between the hotel and launch site). Following the journey, guests will be dropped back to their hotel or to an alternate location if required. In case of shared bus tour the travellers will have to report at specific points in Port Blair. Our team will update you about the pick up point which is nearest to the hotel you will be staying.
Your journey begins by 3:00 AM in the morning in case of shared bus tour or at 3:30 AM in case of private tour from Port Blair by road through the dense tropical forest to reach the starting point of the entrance, which leads to the Jarawa Tribal Reserve. Sometimes the pickup time may change to 2:30 AM as well depending upon next days schedule. Experience Andamans team will update you in case of such changes in timings for pickup. The gate is opened by the forest departments officials for Baratang and all the vehicles are allowed to pass through the Jarawa Tribal reserve in a convoy. The tribe reserve is of around 40 Km. Often you might see a member of the Jarawa Tribe while passing through the tribal reserve. At the end of this forest journey you would reach Baratang jetty. Launch service is available to cross the sea bay. Then enjoy the breathtaking fiber boat ride through a fascinating Mangrove drive, which leads to the start point of the trek to Lime stone caves. Trek through dense forest to reach the Limestone Cave. Made up of the mineral calcite (calcium carbonate) the cave contains beautiful cave formation.
